SAVE THE PRIMATES!

Animal cruelty is completely intolerable, Lucas – and yet it happens all the time.

Every day, animal traffickers profit from the capture of monkeys and apes sold in the exotic pet trade. Shortly after birth, baby monkeys are forcibly separated from their mothers, and instead of growing up in the wild, they’re trapped in small cages and smuggled around the world.

Sign the Petition: Stop the trafficking of monkeys and apes.

These primates are raised in isolation, deprived of the social bonds they need to live happy, fulfilling lives. As they grow frustrated by the loneliness and abuse they experience in captivity, many become hostile, posing a threat to the safety of nearby humans.

Primates belong in the wild, not in human homes. Twenty-two states have laws prohibiting private ownership of nonhuman primates, but the exotic pet trade continues to profit off their suffering, and monkeys can still be bought at auctions and on the internet.

It’s time to ban the trafficking of monkeys and apes. The Captive Primate Safety Act would add nonhuman primates to the list of animals that are prohibited from being bought and sold. Primates already in captivity would grow up in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries – and more would be left alone in their native habitat.

Your voice is critical to taking action. Sign the petition: tell Congress to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act and protect monkeys and apes from animal trafficking! Working together, we can put an end to these cruel practices and allow these animals to live as they were meant to.
