Dear Lucas,
People frequently ask me what inspires me to do the work that I do. I
think the expectation is that I'll share a powerful quote or a story
from my own childhood.
But the truth? What inspires me more than anything else is ordinary people
doing their part, every day in neighborhoods across the country, to ensure
that no child goes hungry. These people are heroes to me. People like
you, who give so generously to No Kid Hungry.
Will you make a gift again to No Kid Hungry and be a hero for vulnerable
children who are still facing hunger in our country?
You'll often hear us talking about heroes who support the campaign
with the critical funds necessary to reach more kids.
People like the little boy in Arkansas, himself from a poor family, who came up to one of our staffers at a meals program to offer all he had to give — four quarters — so that we could provide more meals to other kids in need.
People like Tina, who rehabilitated an old school bus to bring meals to kids in her rural North Carolina county who were going hungry during the summer.
And people like Tara, who goes door-to-door in her low-income Chicago neighborhood, passing out fliers and knocking on doors, to let parents know where they can get free, healthy meals for their children.
These stories, and countless more like them, are what inspire and motivate
me. They remind me that we are ending childhood hunger, one meal at a
time, and we're doing it together.
Please make a donation today and a be a hunger hero. I hope you'll
decide to join us as our newest member of Circle of Strength today with
a generous donation of $1000.
Sincerely,
Billy Shore
