Shur-Green Farms Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Lascadoil/Soyoil Due to Possible Lasalocid Contamination

Shur-Green Farms LLC(Ansonia, OH) has voluntarily recalled loads of Soyoil containing Lascadoil, industrial processing waste oil, which was intended for non-food product or bio-fuels but may have been used as a feed ingredient. This voluntary recall is the result of death in turkeys.

The recall includes load sold on or before September 17, 2014.

Geographic areas of distribution: United States

If used as feed ingredient, may cause animal death.

Consumers that have recall product should contact Shur-Green Farms to arrange for return.If you or any of your customers may have further distributed this oil, please be notified we are recalling this product for improper labeling and for reports of deaths in turkeys associated with feeding this oil. This product is only permitted for bio-fuels. If you know this product has been used for purposes other than bio-fuels, please call your customer to cease this use immediately.

To date, the company has received adverse event reports or product complaints attributable to the levels of lasalocid sodium in the oil. This may be harmful to poultry or livestock.

As such, the company is conducting a voluntary recall as a safety precaution, and will continue to closely monitor for reports of adverse events and product complaints.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Notification of the recall has been sent to purchasers of the oil.
