AMERICAN LAWS FOR AMERICAN COURTS

Alabama Constitutional Victory Caps Off Successful 2014 Legislative Effort

By Brigitte Gabriel

On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, the people of the United States went to the polls and made their voices heard in elections across America.

But seemingly hidden away in one state was a special kind of election.

The people of Alabama took the extraordinary step of making American Laws for American Courts part of their state’s constitution.

The American Laws for American Courts amendment in Alabama passed the vote of the people with a decisive 72% of the electorate approving it!

The victory was the culmination of a 4 year battle led by State Senator Gerald Allen, recipient of ACT for America ’s National Security Eagle Award at our National Conference in Washington DC on September 11. In order to get on to the statewide ballot, American Laws for American Courts first had to pass through both chambers of the Alabama legislature. Thanks to the leadership of Senator Allen, it did so overwhelmingly with bipartisan support.

Of course, it couldn’t have been possible without the support of ACT for America ’s thousands of members in the state of Alabama, who voiced their support when American Laws for American Courts worked its way through the legislative process and then led their fellow citizens in voting the legislation into their state constitution.

ACT for America is committed to educating elected officials and working with them nationwide to make sure they make decisions to protect our states and our nation. Can I count on you to help me in our effort to educate as many officials as possible across the country? Please click here to give $25, $50,$100 or more.

The Alabama success was the bookend of a series of legislative successes made possible by the support of ACT for America members across the nation that included:

• Anti-Female Genital Mutilation legislation authored by Senator Judy Burges in Arizona.

• State Level Counterterrorism Legislation—Andy’s Law—spearheaded by Representative Peggy Mast in Kansas.

• Overwhelming passage through the Oklahoma House and Senate of the Oklahoma Antiterrorism Act authored by Representative Dan Fisher.

• Legislation signed into law in Louisiana to ensure non-discriminatory practices by taxpayer supported charter schools, sponsored by Representative Valarie Hodges.

• Legislation similar to American Laws for American Courts to protect Floridians from foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines, authored by Senator Alan Hays.

In fact, 35 national security bills have been signed into law by nearly 2 dozen state Governors over the past 6 years!

The common denominator with each of these wins?
ACT for America ’s investment to skillfully deliver rock solid messaging to legislative sponsors and ….to hundreds of thousands of local activists in our grassroots network.

With a Facebook post reach that exceeds 3 million readers on a regular basis, ACT has over 285,000 members and 875 local chapters, easily making us the largest national security grassroots movement in America.

Your investment in ACT for America has made all of this possible .

But, as you know, there’s so much yet that has to be done. ISIS rampages throughout the Middle East.
Muslim Brotherhood organizations like CAIR and ISNA constantly push to undermine our national security and impose sharia law on America.

Please stand with us and make the most generous tax deductible gift of $25, $50, $100 or more.

ACT for America is playing a key role in building the firewalls to keep America safe and protect us from sliding into what Europe is going through now. Together, we are making a big difference, for our country and the future of our children and grandchildren.

Thank you for everything you’ve done, and for what you’ll do today. We are only as strong as our supporters. Please also remember us in your Will.

Always devoted,
