Mission. Founded in 1847, Xavier High School is an academically rigorous, Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school in New York City that educates intelligent, motivated young men of diverse backgrounds and means. Xavier seeks qualified candidates for the following positions: Director of Communications; Director of Alumni Relations and Database Specialist. All positions are full-time. The director positions require work on some nights and weekends and occasional travel. The database specialist position requires occasional night and weekend work. Review of candidates will begin the week of August 11 and continue until the positions are filled. Successful candidates will ideally begin in early September. The communications position requires writing samples as outlined below. Only applications with all requested materials will be considered.

Director of Communications. Reporting to the president, the director of communications has as his/her primary responsibility sharing the good news of Xavier with internal and external constituencies through print, electronic and social media. Responsibilities include serving as the managing editor of the Xavier eNews, magazine and annual report. Managing the Xavier homepage, maintaining an active and engaged social media presence, managing other communications and maintaining relationships with local media. The successful applicant will be an excellent writer, have great facility with social media and technology, have strong interpersonal skills and flexibility and a desire to contribute to the work of Jesuit education. Knowledge of and the ability to work with HTML, CSS, Adobe CS, iModules and Raisers Edge (RE) is a plus. Read the complete job description. In addition to the materials outlined above, applicants for the communications position should submit two writing samples. One should be a news piece on an event (personal, local, national, international) not to exceed 500 words. The second should be his/her own one-page letter of recommendation for the communications position.

Director of Alumni Relations. The director of alumni relations plans, directs and coordinates all alumni programming locally and across the country. Responsibilities include planning the reunion gala; recruiting class chairs; organizing regional receptions and alumni events (Beefsteak Dinner, President’s Council Dinner, etc.); working with the director of communications to develop and execute Xavier’s social media strategy, and being a first point of contact for alumni. The successful applicant will have a deep appreciation for the history and mission of Xavier, excellent people skills, great facility with technology, keen organizational ability and the capability to multitask. Database Specialist. The database specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate management of all data related to the Xavier advancement program and the generation of reports so the staff can analyze and use that data to better advance the mission of Xavier. Responsibilities include the input of gifts into Raiser’s Edge (RE) and the generation of acknowledgement letters; management of responses for Xavier events; transmitting gift receipts to the business office; managing the matching gift program and assisting with registration at Xavier events.
