Manhattan Cultural Tourism Development Grant Application Available Now
It is my pleasure to announce the Manhattan Cultural Tourism Development Grant Application is now available. Thanks to the support of the NYC & Company Foundation, we have a small amount of funding available to support non-profits providing tourism marketing and audience development initiatives to expand audiences’ awareness of the various neighborhoods throughout Manhattan and their cultural offerings.
Full details on the grant application can be found here but please note that grant applications must be submitted by 5PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014. If you are a non-profit organization providing cultural programming for tourists in Manhattan, I encourage you to apply!

Applications are due via email by Thursday July 31, 2014 at 5pm to Luisa Gonzalez at mcgp@manhattanbp.nyc.gov
Please note that in order to be considered for funding you must email the following attachments:
- Copy of your application (in PDF format)
- IRS Letter of 501(c)(3) determination
- Detailed production timeline for the program/project
- Itemized project budget
- Organization's current total annual budget
- Copies of advertising materials
This grant is administered by the Office of the Manhattan Borough President in partnership with NYC & Company Foundation.
NYC & Company Foundation’s mission is to support tourism to New York City by promoting the arts and cultural organizations that make visiting New York a special and exciting experience. To further its goal, the Foundation funds the Borough Cultural Tourism Development Grant to support tourism marketing and audience development initiatives to expand audiences’ awareness of the various neighborhoods throughout Manhattan and their cultural offerings.
Eligibility Guidelines:
Funds granted by the Borough Cultural Tourism Development Grant Application may ONLY be used for projects that promote not-for-profit 501(c)(3) arts and cultural organizations and their events, exhibitions or activities.
Borough projects eligible for funding under the program shall include, but are not limited to, the following on behalf of one or more not-for-profit 501(c)(3) cultural organization(s) in the borough:
- Development, production, and distribution of a cultural organization's promotional materials (brochures, posters, maps, videos, and slides)
- Special cultural events or projects supported by the Borough President and designed to bring visitors to the borough and the borough's non-for-profit cultural assets
- Cultural advertising targeted to the inbound visitor market(s)
- Research to determine visitor profiles, identify markets or measure economic impact of cultural organizations' tourism outreach initiatives
Funding Restrictions:
Non-eligible Costs
Costs associated with borough projects that are NOT eligible for funding
from the NYC & Company Foundation include, but are not limited to:
- Payments and/or benefits for personnel or consultants
- Capital projects, rent, and/or structural rehabilitation
- Travel and entertainment
- Membership dues or fees
- Postage or office supplies
- Business to business projects
- Promotion of for-profit entities
- Projects that promote organizations outside New York City
- Any activities associated with political lobbying or campaigning
