TRIP AND FAIL

Jean Lang was injured after she tripped over some computer wires that had been taped to her precinct's locker room floor for several months. When she later filed for accidental disability retirement benefits, the Police Pension Fund denied her request.

Because the lady wasn't able to show that her injury was the result of a "sudden, unexpected, out of the ordinary event," both the Appellate Division, First Department, and our state's highest court opted to leave the outcome undisturbed. (Her argument that the tape had been removed on the day of the accident wasn't found to be credible.)

Was there no cutting through that?
