ON THE STATE OF THE UNION

GOProud Responds to State of the Union Address

What we witnessed last night from President Obama was nothing new. It was the same baseless platitude and hope-laden rhetoric that we’ve seen in every one of his flowery speeches. Fortunately, the American people don’t buy it anymore. The only thing new in The President’s address was the announcement that his vague agenda will now be guaranteed by threat of executive order.

The President can masterfully describe the problems we face in America, often in dramatic detail, but when it comes to offering real solutions he routinely falls short. Even the most effusive vocabulary could not disguise his lack of leadership.

Specifically speaking, the President talked a good game about the need for quality education, but failed to mention anything about school choice. He talked about the minimum wage but did little more than toss out an arbitrary number to pacify his ultra-left wing groupies.

President Obama spoke eloquently about the benefits of ending wars in the Middle East, yet spent a good portion of his time convincing Americans that they should instead be at war with each other. It’s always the us-versus-them mentality with Democrats, as they can’t seem to get Americans to believe in their message without convincing them to hate someone.

The President also spoke a lot about the need for bipartisanship, but his actions as President have left little room for solutions not palatable to the usual collection of left wing interest groups, unions and billionaire campaign donors.

At GOProud we understand that our problems are too big and too pressing for more partisan political warfare and broken promises. Americans expect solutions.

That being said, if nothing else, the President’s speech has given the American people yet another reason to vote Republican in November.
