LOVE LETTER

After he was found guilty of soliciting a sexual act, harassment and violating prision correspondence procedures, inmate C. Smith filed an administrative appeal--by way of an Article 78 proceeding--which got transferred by the Albany County Supreme Court to the Appellate Division, Third Department.

Although he denied writing the letter--which allegedly invited a woman to engage in sexual activity with him--the AD3 thought the record contained "substantial evidence" of guilt. (While an expert wasn't called to testify at the hearing, an earlier admission that he was the sender of the missive, together with the Hearing Officer's own analysis of the handwriting were enough to support the outcome.)

They sure sent him a message.
