CHEERS TO QUEENS!

Locals and savvy travelers have known it for years, but now it's official:
Queens has been named No. 1 in Lonely Planet's 2015 "Best in the U.S." destinations!

You haven’t really seen New York City unless you have experienced Queens ," says Queens Borough President Melinda Katz. "I think that you’re going to see a lot of great new things in this borough. We’re not only the hottest borough moving forward, but we’re also a borough of families. Those families create the infrastructure for this borough and it’s why folks are coming from all over the world just to work and educate their children right here in the borough of Queens .”

Borough President Katz has made tourism a priority of her administration since she took office last year, launching a marketing plan aimed at increasing visitation. " Queens is hot and on the move, and we’re thrilled by the growing attention and interest that the rest of the world has in its borough."

Be sure to share the full Lonely Planet review , which notes, "In recent years, Queens has seen the rise of microbreweries, boutique hotels, a reinvented seaside and a burgeoning art scene – all of which has given a big boost to local pride." Cheers to Queens!
