As one of the most racially diverse administrations in decades, there has been much surprise that NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio's appointments have been criticized in both Black and Latino communities. To understand the basis of this seemingly paradoxical situation, The Jordan Journal, hosted by Howard Jordan, leads a discussion by the two major proponents of these criticisms of de Blasio's record of appointments:

Rev. Dennis Dillon, the publisher of The Christian Times for more than 23 years, the chief pioneer and architect of the Black Church Means Business and the NYCCABE (New York Church, Community and Business Empowerment) Conferences, the producer of the Easter in New York television special (aired on FOX and other outlets) and the organizer of the House New York Homeownership Drive - the largest single first-time home buyer campaign in the history of New York. He is also a member of the task force of the Pan-African Unity Dialogue. To view his critique of the de Blasio Black appointments, click here. On their protest in front of City Hall, click here.

Angelo Falcón, President of the National Institute for Latino Policy (NiLP). He is a political scientist and serves as editor of The NiLP Network on Latino Issues, an online information service. He is co-editor of "Boricuas in Gotham: Puerto Ricans in the Making of New York," and of the forthcoming "Latino/as in New York: Communities in Transition." He is also editor of the forthcoming "The Hispanic Question and the 2020 Census." To view his report on de Blasio's Latino appointments, click here.
