JOE'S FOCUSED ON PEDESTRIANS

Lucas,

A lot's been going on over the past few weeks, so I thought I'd give you a little update on what's at the top of my agenda.

I was born and raised in Woodside, Queens and I want the Queens-Bronx community to continue to be a wonderful place for hard-working families to live, just as it was for mine. That's why I have put forward a package of proposals focused on strengthening and improving our neighborhoods.

First, I recently introduced legislation, the Pedestrian Fatalities Reduction Act, to help ensure our roadways are safe for pedestrians. The measure will require states applying for federal highway safety funds to include in their proposal plans to safeguard pedestrians' safety.

I also introduced the Children First Act, which will provide families with expanded opportunities to get affordable, high-quality childcare. The families in our area who are working hard to provide for their families must also be able to go to work knowing their children are well taken care of.

These commonsense proposals are about putting families first, and it's what the families of our community need and deserve. Rest assured, I will fight to get these proposals enacted. In the meantime, please share with me your thoughts about ways to further improve our area!

Thanks for your interest and your continued support in all of these critical endeavors!

All the best,

Joe Crowley
