HELP OUR MOTHERS, SISTERS & DAUGHTERS

Tell Congress: Pass equal pay now! Sign the petition.Lucas,

Partisan gridlock blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act – a critical piece of legislation that was denied even a single Republican vote in the Senate.

If we have any hope of strengthening equal pay protections for working women, we have to turn to the House, where Speaker Boehner and House Republicans have already signaled their opposition.

Just last year, my opponent, Congressman Chris Gibson, and 225 of his colleagues voted to block the Paycheck Fairness Act in a strict party-line vote. Women and families deserve better from their Congress.

Right now, the only way women will get the equal pay they deserve – especially after the Senate's failure – is if we relentlessly demand it. Will you help me get that message to Speaker Boehner, Congressman Gibson and the rest of the House GOP?

I've worked with Planned Parenthood to protect women's access to health care, and I helped pass marriage equality in New York. Those are civil rights issues, and so too is ensuring equal pay for equal work.

I believe that our mothers, sisters, and daughters deserve to be paid an equal wage for an equal day's work. It's been more than half a century since Congress passed the landmark Equal Pay Act, and yet the job of ensuring equality in the workplace remains unfinished.

Women earn only $0.77 on the dollar compared to men. This harms middle-class families and our economy. If women earned equal pay, America's GDP could grow by as much as 4 percent.

This is an easy call, but Congressman Chris Gibson and his House colleagues make nothing easy. We've got to fight for this.

Take a moment to add your voice: Tell the House to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act.

Thank you,

Sean
