WANNA BE AN ARBITRATOR JUDGE?

The ABA Law Student Division is sending this message to you on behalf of Fordham University School of Law, which is hosting the 2013 Regional Arbitration Competition. Fordham would like to invite you to participate as an arbitrator judge for the competition, which simulates a realistic arbitration hearing.

This competition provides law students with legal training in arbitration and promotes excellence in arbitration advocacy. Participating students prepare and present an arbitration case and are involved in opening statements, witness examinations, exhibit introductions, evidentiary presentations, and summations.

Last year's arbitration judges told the competition organizers that they really enjoyed working with the students. They appreciated the opportunity to give back to the profession. One of the most valuable components of this great learning opportunity for students is receiving feedback from practicing bar members and arbitrators.

The rounds will be held:

- Round 1 -- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm -- November 16

- Round 2 -- 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm -- November 16

- Semifinal Round -- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm -- November 17

- Final Round -- 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm -- November 17

The time commitment required of judges is minimal -- each round lasts only three hours and pre-round preparation will merely consist of reading the problem. Additionally, we typically provide CLE credits for practitioners who aid us by judging the competition. All judges are invited to join the competitors at a cocktail reception on the evening of November 16.

If you would like to serve as a judge, please contact Amy Markel and bma@law.fordham.edu or 917/957-9345 by Monday November 4, 2013.
