Dear Friends,
As we move into the holiday season, I would like to wish you and yours a happy Hanukkah and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
While nearly everyone knows the story of the first Thanksgiving, it is worth remembering that our first national thanksgiving was proclaimed by President Lincoln at the height of the Civil War. Beset on all sides, with his Congress in turmoil and his nation at war with itself, Lincoln called on Americans to remember the many bounties that are enjoyed and often overlooked in our lives. He also asked that we seek to "heal the wounds of the nation." Our amazing, resilient and resourceful nation rose up from that terrible strife and became a beacon of hope, peace and prosperity to the entire world.
I have much to be thankful for this year. Amongst my many blessings are friends like you, a family that I love beyond what words can convey, and a city that inspires me every day.
I send you and those you love my warmest wishes for a very happy Hanukkah and Thanksgiving.
