NO CALLING IN SICK

Because she failed to show up for several court appearances, a default judgment was entered against Heatheran Kristopher in a summary holdover proceeding.

Even though Heatheran attributed her nonappearance to undisclosed "medical reasons," a New York County Housing Court Judge still opted to deny the lady's request to have the default vacated.

While her absences might have been excusable, the Appellate Term, First Department, didn't think Heatheran had demonstrated a "meritorious defense" to the landlord's underlying holdover claims--particularly since she wasn't able to show that she had an enforceable renewal lease for her (unregulated) apartment.

Hope she's feeling better.
