LIU STATEMENT ON HATE CRIME VICTIM MARK CARSON
City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following about the murder of Mark Carson, an alleged anti-gay hate crime:
"Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Mark Carson, whose death is a painful reminder that prejudice and hate still lurk in some corners of our society. The recent spate of anti-gay crimes tarnishes our city's reputation as a beacon of diversity and tolerance—and we must fight back by working even harder to achieve equal rights and treatment for all."
