THE SCREAM

A walk in the park took a turn for the worse when Antoya M. began to experience "auditory hallucinations" that a "demon" was out to hurt her son. (Antoya was later hospitalized and her kid was taken into custody by the Administration for Children's Services.)

After the Bronx County Family Court found her guilty of neglect, Antoya appealed, claiming that the evidence didn't support the case's outcome. But because her medical records showed that she had experienced such delusions since childhood, and that even after treatment she continued to exhibit "bizarre behavior," the Appellate Division, First Department, was of the view the lower court's determination had been appropriately premised.

Wonder what possessed her.
