ANDREW'S BUDGET IS "APPROPRIATELY DISCIPLINED"

LIU STATEMENT ON GOV. CUOMO'S EXECUTIVE BUDGET

New York City Comptroller John C. Liu released the following statement on Governor Andrew Cuomo's third Executive Budget address:

"Gov. Cuomo has presented an appropriately disciplined budget that provides funds where New Yorkers most need them. There are many important and deserving programs, but none is more vital than educating our children. The Governor should be commended for increasing aid to schools and encouraging extended school days.

"The Governor has been a forceful advocate for the funds needed to rebuild many communities devastated by Superstorm Sandy. While the Governor rightly proposed raising the minimum wage, we think that it should be higher in New York City to reflect the greater cost of living here. We hope that this will be the third consecutive budget to be passed on time, which would be an historic event for New York State."
