The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) recently announced the specified codes for the official color selected for the Boro Taxis that will be permitted to provide street hail service to the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and northern Manhattan.  The color, as announced by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on April 29, is Apple Green, and the codes are:

Dupont:  GS028 PPG:  502757

These codes, which will be available to all vehicle painting businesses, are all that is necessary for a perfect color match for Boro Taxi vehicles.

Starting on May 29, 2012, the TLC will begin accepting requests for appointments to file an application for the 6,000 permits that will be available this year, 1,200 of which will be for wheelchair accessible vehicles through our web site: www.nyc.gov/taxi.  An additional 6,000 permits will be sold next year, and a third final batch of 6,000 will follow the year after that.

We encourage people interested in the new service to sign up for e-mail updates on the TLC web site ( www.nyc.gov/taxi ), and/or to call 311, which will assist prospective applicants in filling out the appointment request form as of May 29.
