Midnight on March 31st is the most critical first test of our race.
It marks the first Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline of the year and the first since news that an outside GOP group has targeted our race as one of ten in the country that it will pour money into.
We knew that shadowy outside groups wanted to open up the spigot of anonymous big business money to make sure that the 22nd district stayed in Republican control, but now it's official. Early last week Dick Army's group FreedomWorks endorsed my Republican opponent. This group has already spent over a million dollars to defeat Democrats in the House and Senate and they won't spare anything to make sure my Republican opponent wins.
Together we can make sure that people get their voices heard on election day, not the big business interests that these groups represent. We have a big deadline coming up on midnight Saturday, and if we are able to show our grassroots strength, it will go a long way to showing the media, the pundits, and our opponent we have what it takes to win.
Can we count on you to help us fight back and show our grassroots strength on March 31st? Just $3 would go a long way to prove that we can go toe-to-toe with outside Republican money any day of the week.
We can't let these radical right-wing extremists have their way with elections. We have to be ready to take the fight to these outside groups. We need to make sure that they get the message: as hard as you try you won't be able to influence this election.
