WHAT'S YOUR NAME?

Thirteen years after pleadomh guilty to drug possession, Keisha Sanders was finally convicted and sentenced to a one-year term.

On appeal, Sanders claimed that the lengthy passage of time had deprived the New York County Supreme Court of jurisdiction.

Because she skipped out and gave authorities "multiple aliases and false pedigree information" when arrested and incarcerated over the course of that thirteen-year period, the Appellate Division, First Department, didn't think Sanders should benefit from her own misconduct. Even though some state agencies might have been aware of her other identities, the AD1 refused to impute that knowledge to the District Attorney's office.

That pedigree sure dogged her.
