BCS International Corp. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Peanuts In Dr. Snack Choco Raisin

BCS Int'l Corp. of Long Island City, NY is voluntarily recalling DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. containers with "Sell By 03/05/2012" date code only because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. containers, with "Sell By 03/05/2012" date code were distributed to retail stores in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. with "Sell By 03/05/2012" date code are packaged in clear, hard plastic (clam-shell) containers and bear UPC # 80555493026.
No other Dr. Snack products are involved in this recall.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes.
Retail stores are being notified of the recall and urged to immediately remove the affected product from the retail shelves.
