TIPS FOR STORM CLEAN-UP

public_advocate_logo_de_blasio_nyreblog_com_.jpgDear Friends,

Hurricane Irene was one of the worst storms to hit us in years, but it brought out the best in countless New Yorkers across our city.

From the Mayor, the Office of Emergency Management, MTA, FDNY and NYPD, to the first responders, transit workers, 311 operators, and hundreds of volunteering New Yorkers, everyone did their part to help keep our city safe during the storm. Here in the Public Advocate's Office we owe a special thanks to all the volunteers who responded to our call for help by providing assistance at evacuation sites around the City.

Now that the storm has passed, it's time to turn our attention towards helping people who are still recovering from its impact.

> If your home was damaged by the storm, please download the Public Advocate's Tips for Storm Clean Up guide .

The guide provides resources on how people affected by the storm can clean their property, file insurance claims and get additional assistance from the government. Please feel free to pass on this guide to anyone you know who was impacted by the storm.

Finally New Yorkers are strongly encouraged to give blood this week, after blood banks have had their supplies depleted. To donate blood or for information on how to organize a blood drive, please call 1-800-933-2566 or visit www.nybloodcenter.org

Thank you,

Matt Wing
