Dear Lucas:

I am pleased to announce that the New York State Bar Association ("NYSBA") House of Delegates recently adopted a comprehensive report issued by the Task Force on the Future of the Legal Profession. The final report (comprised of more than one hundred pages) is available at www.nysba.org/FutureReport .

The unanimous decision followed months of intensive study by the Task Force, as well as a period of public review and comment. We are grateful to the law firm representatives, in-house counsel, legal educators, and consultants that served on the Task Force, as well as all who took the time to provide helpful feedback.

When I established the Task Force almost a year ago, I hoped to provoke thoughtful discussion among its members and the public about our future. Although the primary work of the Task Force is now completed, it is clear that the dialogue about our future will continue as NYSBA leaders now make plans to implement recommendations contained in the report.

Thank you for your support of this initiative as we continue moving forward with plans for positive change in our profession.

Best regards,

Stephen P. Younger
President, New York State Bar Association
