I have known Chris for more than 20 years, since we were both students at Yale Law School. Then as now, he was whip-smart, thoughtful and wholly earnest. When I was in the City Council, Chris and I both participated in a Democratic Leadership Council fellowship program for emerging Democratic leaders committed to centrist, pro-growth policies. That's what Chris stands for.
And it's not just talk. As County Leader, Chris "walked the walk." He cut millions in wasteful spending, lowered the crime rate in his county, and brought fresh, innovative thinking to county government.
I spoke to Chris this weekend. He's ahead in the polls, but the Tea Party is planning a massive election day effort for Christine O'Donnell, one of their marquis candidates.
