Start the New Year off right by learning how to improve your home or rental property!  HPD will offer the following instructor-led, free classes in January: Lead Safe Work Practices class in English and in Spanish, NYC Lead Law, Healthy Homes (mold, pests, carbon monoxide, etc.), Bedbugs, and the start of a cycle of our five-session Intro to Property Management class. CLASS # 101 -- INTRODUCTION TO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

(Ten --10--hours)

Discover the world of property ownership and management. The five session course explores operating techniques based on sound building management principles.
 
Topics include:
Management needs of different types of residential ownership models.
NYC's Housing Maintenance Code.
NYC's Multiple dwelling Law.
City and state housing agencies with regulatory and oversight authority.
Tax exemptions.
Loan programs.
Tenant relations and Housing Court procedures.
 
Information is also given on city and federal lead based paint regulations (Local Law 1 and Title X), their overall impact on housing and how to achieve regulatory compliance.
 
This course is designed to meet the needs of property owners of smaller residential properties and/or prospective managers of smaller multi-family residential properties.
 
This Course is offered several times a year, one evening a week, for five weeks, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 100 Gold Street, NY 10038. Course dates are listed underneath the class description.
