Dear Lucas, Ever since I was first elected to public office, we have worked together to improve public education, protect our environment, and reform our government to make it more responsive to the public it serves. I am very proud of the work we have done to advance our shared priorities in the City Council.
Unfortunately, our state government is not as progressive as the City Council. And the "poster child" for corruption in Albany is Pedro Espada.
Pedro Espada is being investigated by the FBI, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, and two District Attorneys. He is alleged to have stolen millions of dollars in Medicaid funds, flouts state election laws, and makes a mockery of the democratic process.
That's why I am supporting GUSTAVO RIVERA for State Senate. Recent polls show that he has a very real opportunity to oust Mr. Espada - please join in me in providing Gustavo with the resources he needs to win!
Gustavo has the right mix of qualifications to win this campaign and serve with distinction. He is an educator, an organizer, a savvy activist, and just recently served as Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's Statewide Director of Community Outreach.
