BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL EXTERIOR TO BE LIT WITH PURPLE LIGHTS IN RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

On Wednesday, October 14, purple lights will illuminate the exterior of Brooklyn Borough Hall, in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Around 25 percent of all women will experience some form of domestic abuse during their lifetime. Brooklyn is a leader in domestic violence prevention, through organizations such as the Center Against Domestic Violence, Women Against Violence, the Voices of Women Organizing Project, Safe Horizon, the Center For Anti-Violence Education, and the Park Slope Safe Home Project, and the
Earlier this year, BP Marty Markowitz and Deputy BP Yvonne Graham formed the Brooklyn Teen Violence Task Force, a coalition of several groups exploring ways to combat the rise in domestic abuse among adolescents.
