For the past 25 years, the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) has sponsored an annual high school mock trial tournament open to all 9th through 12th graders in public and nonpublic schools.
The purpose of the competition is to introduce students to basic trial-practice skills and to teach them how to analyze legal issues.
The program is currently recruiting lawyers willing to to serve as coaches in the New York City high school regional competition. Coaching usually takes place after school hours, at the school or law firm. The time commitment varies; however, once a week is the minimum.
