IN SPITE OF OPRAH WINFREY

Am I the only one troubled by the "Double-O" tag team?

As the entire universe knows, the Queen of Talk TV, Oprah Winfrey has openly endorsed Barack Obama and is traipsing around Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina telling anyone and everyone who will listen that Obama is her choice for the next President of these United States.

While she is certainly entitled to her personal opinion, I was wondering what makes Oprah so uniquely qualified to anoint our country's next leader.

According to Forbes , Oprah is one of the country's richest women, who reportedly earned about $200 million last year and is now worth about $1.5 billion. (That's right. Billion.)

While that's proof she's supreme at selling programming and hawking books and products for her viewers to acquire, that doesn't qualify her to pick a President.

Oprah knows full well that that her adoring fans are susceptible to her powers of persuasion, so why interfere with their decision-making processes? Why blind them (or distract their focus) with her celebrity status and power?

Can we not be trusted? Are we incapable of independent thought? (Are we nothing but sheep?)

Besides, if she were truly sincere about bringing change to our country and electing someone with a "new vision for America," why not cut out the middleman and make her own run for the presidency. (She could certainly afford to self-fund the entire thing and would give Michael Bloomberg -- our current NYC Mayor and rumored contender -- a good run for his money.)

And look at all the good that could be achieved:

Oprah could do all her shows from the White House. (That would make for great TV.)

Our literacy rate would shoot up a few notches.

And, we'd all be able to live off of " Oprah's Favorite Things ."

A win-win for everyone!
