THE END OF COMMERCIAL RENT CONTROL?

Dear Member,

Partially as a result of our members' quick and efficient response, I am pleased to announce that our industry has had a tremendous victory yesterday!

Councilman Robert Jackson has withdrawn his motion to discharge the Commercial Rent Control legislation (Intro. No. 847-A) from committee. Therefore, this potentially disastrous legislation has been removed from the New York City Council's agenda.

When Councilman Jackson first made this move to discharge this legislation from committee, REBNY responded with an aggressive grassroots e-mail campaign. In just a week's time, our members, using the REBNY Action Center, mobilized and generated a substantial amount of emails to various elected officials urging them NOT to vote for Councilman Jackson's motion. The efforts of you and other members played a vital role in stopping this unfair and senseless legislation.

Be sure to visit the REBNY Action Center for future legislative updates at: REBNY Action Center

Sincerely Yours,

Steven Spinola
