WATCH A MOVIE WITH GABBY

giffords_for_congress_nyreblog_com_.jpgCome to see Mr. Smith Goes to Washington!

Every Thursday evening at 7:30, May through October, for the last ten years, hundreds of Tucsonans have enjoyed watching classic films in the beautiful summer evenings in downtown Tucson.

In celebration of the tenth anniversary of one of Tucson's very special traditions, Giffords for Mr. Smith Goes to WashingtonCongress is sponsoring the classic movie of Frank Capra "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"  at Cinema La Placita at 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 6th [2009].  The film will be shown in the plaza of La Placita Village, located at 110 S. Church Avenue, on the southwest corner of Broadway and Church.

Come join me and others in watching this classic film about a junior senator from an un-named state and the riveting story of the powerful forces of American freedom, democracy and morality.

Chairs are provided, however you are welcome to bring your own lightweight lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. A three dollar donation for Cinema La Placita is appreciated. Popcorn is provided and parking is available in the La Placita parking garage, located at Stone just south of Broadway.

(Weather note: Thanks to our monsoons, it can be pouring rain at 6pm and beautiful at 7pm. They wait until 7pm to decide to cancel the movie. If you are a Twitter-er, you can follow CinemaLaPlacita onTwitter, and receive an update. You can also call the hotline at 326-5282 to hear a recorded message if there is a monsoon and you are concerned.)

Hope to see you there!

Thank you again for your support!

 Sincerely yours,

Gabrielle Giffords

Comments

Hello. I wanted to see Gabby last night, and I went to this movie. Can you please let me know if she is okay? I'd like to help her and pass along some information from the residents of Tucson who were also there in hopes of seeing her.
