FREE CLE: New York's Letter of Engagement Rules

Date Start End Location
10 Dec 2008 6:00 PM 7:00 PM Arent Fox LLP
1675 Broadway
New York, NY

Program Description:

In the six years since the adoption of New York's Letter of Engagement Rules, only limited guidance exists on how to comply with these Rules. Many lawyers and law firms representing corporate and/or individual clients still want to know if, when and how these Rules apply to their representations and practices. This program will provide an overview of the Rules, discuss how to avoid some of the grey areas, analyze recent case law on the consequences of failure to comply with the rules and suggest best practices for compliance.

Date, Time and Place:
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 6 pm to 7 pm at the offices of Arent Fox LLP, 1675 Broadway, New York City

This program is FREE and attorneys admitted in New York State qualify for 1 hour of CLE credit in Ethics and Professionalism.

Speaker:

Devika Kewalramani is co-chair of Moses & Singer's Legal Ethics and Law Firm Practice group. She advises lawyers and law firms on issues involving legal ethics, professional responsibility and risk management practices. In her role as General Counsel of Moses & Singer, Devika addresses legal, ethical and professional concerns that arise in the firm's practice, including, conflicts of interest, client intake and compliance with legal, regulatory and ethical matters. She is a frequent speaker on legal ethics at the Practising Law Institute, The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the National Business Institute.
