WHO CAME OUT LAST NIGHT?

j0341629.jpgAccording to political leaders we have spoken to over the course of the evening and morning, a Manhattan "independent" screening panel has reported out three candidates who may make a run for a county-wide slot for a Civil Court judgeship. They are:

William Ramos

Michael Katz

Nancy Bannon

Our congratulations to each of the candidates.

anyone know went into the panel;;; the favorites should have kellie oneil, judge david cohan, and judge jerald lebbowitz;;; the ones who are already judges and the ones who worked with clubs and printed petitions didn't come out;;;hope these people got money cause this will get nasty

Hawk, the way its stacked a minority candidate was always going to come out. Ramos has come out before. The real surprises were the other two.

I would watch Kelly and James Daugustine. Those two have serious club backing and can run good campaigns.

This could be the year when the panel system for picking judicial candidates is marginalised.

I thought you will not get the endorsement of the New York Times if you don't get approved by the Panel. Isn't that still so?

First of all, the New York Times is losing its readership and relevance.
(That's why they keep firing people left and right.)

This is also an off-year election cycle. Nothing is going to be on the ballot when it gets to the NYC Primary other than this Civil Court judge picking mess...So expect to see diehard democratic voters lining up and casting their votes just like their district leaders tell them.

What is interesting is that the district leaders are backing different candidates at the moment, and not one of those people got the screening panel's endorsement. (So much for the fix being in.)

Whatever happens, a Times endorsement won't have a significant impact AT ALL.

The people who want into the panel were:

David Cohen, William Frank Perry, Michael Katz, James E. d'Auguste, Mary V. Rosado, Gerald Lebovits, Nancy Bannon, J. Machelle Sweeting, Kelly O'Neill Levy, Jennifer Schecter, Lynn Kotler, Anna Rose Lewis, Anthony Cannataro, William Ramos, Sue Ann Hoahng and Susan Avery.
