DAVE CHAPPELLE LAUGHS IT UP FOR KEVIN POWELL
On Wednesday, July 9, 2008, comedian Dave Chappelle will be performing at a political fundraiser for Congressional candidate Kevin Powell.
The event will take place at Eugene (27 West 24th Street, between 6th Ave & Broadway).
Ticket prices start at $75.
A "VIP" reception with Chappelle and Powell will set you back a 1000 bucks, while a "guaranteed photo" with the pair will run you $2300. (That's no joke!)
Here's a copy of the invite:

Here's the text of the e-mail that accompanied the invite:
I'd like to invite you to a special evening hosted by Dave Chappelle (Comedian and two-time Emmy Award winner) on behalf of Kevin Powell for Congress. Kevin is a longtime leader in Brooklyn and has been an important political activist, community organizer, and nationally acclaimed writer over the last 15 years. Kevin is running to unseat Ed Towns in Brooklyn's 10th Congressional District; Towns is a longtime incumbent who raises 65% of his campaign contributions from corporate lobbyist and business PACs. In the 2006 primary, 53% of the district voted AGAINST Towns in a 3-way primary. In the June 23, 2008 New York Post, the Post called Towns a "Deadbeat Democrat"! The district is hungry for change, and overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama in the February 2008 primary. As an early Obama supporter, Kevin has positioned himself to be at the forefront of leading the country in a better direction. A Congressperson should be an organizer, a leader and a voice for his or her constituents. In Kevin Powell, the people of Brooklyn will have an opportunity to elect someone who can excel at all these roles well.
Please join with Gloria Steinem, Chris Rock, Malaak Compton-Rock, Susan Taylor, Cornel West and Democracy for America-New York City and countless other powerful voices in supporting Kevin's campaign. Change can start here, and I hope you'll support Kevin Powell for Congress by attending the event with Dave Chappelle on July 9, from 7-10pm. To find out more, please visit www.kevinpowellforcongress.org. To contribute and RSVP for the Chappelle event, please visit www.kevinpowellforcongress.org/contribute. Tickets start at only $75, but I hope you'll be able to join us in the VIP reception! If you have any questions, please contact at 212-228-6320 ext. 7 or arthurl@kevinpowellforcongress.org.

This guy is alright; it's a shame I don't live in that district any longer:
1. Gets Dave Chappelle to play his fundraiser.
2. Runs against lazy burnout: Ed Towns.
3. Has read "Soledad Brother" and "People's History of the United States."
4. Can rap and has downloadable free mix CD at his MySpace page:

This strikes me as a bit too slick. Something is not hitting me right.

You wouldn't happen to be RACIST, now would you?

WTF is that puerile crap? Dora and Sponge Bob deal with racism on a more mature level.
This is how pros handle the issue:
